This highly fragrant plant produces large quantities of aromatic, small leaves that are bright green when young maturing to a dark blue-green. Days to Harvest: 60-90 Seed Specifications: Direct sow seeds as soon as the soil is workable. Optimal soil temperatures for germination are 55-60 degrees. Seeds emerge within 14-28 days. Seedlings are best planted in clumps. Likes well-drained light dry alkaline soil. Growing Information: Hardy perennial to zone four or grown as an annual. Open-pollinated. Its fine root system makes thyme difficult to move around the garden. Uses/History: Thymus vulgaris, small shrub brings depth of flavor to soups, gravies, casseroles. Said to calm the nerves, soothe headaches. As good in salad dressings as it is in sore-throat remedies. Bees love its short lavender flower spikes. Especially attractive to pollinators.
